    Watering

Watering is the most important part of your new hydro seed lawn! If you follow these instructions you will have a beautiful, green lawn.
  • Essential Steps

    • Evaluation of the site

Every site is different, every season has different weather associated with it. The lay of the land including degrees of slope and potential water flows. We evaluate the overall site for a successful vegetative plan to stabilize your site.

    • Testing the soil

This will allow us to correct deficiencies and imbalances by applying the proper soil amendments and amounts. Many soils used in construction sites are sterile due to being buried deep beneath the earth. For sustainable plant growth the soil must have enzymes, humic acid, and plant hormones. We apply organic bio-stimulants at application rates required to make your project a success. We use the finest products available, not the cheapest, to ensure proper growth of your project.

    • Selection of seed

We can use your seed specifications or help you by recommending certain seed types. It goes back to the evaluation of the project and what the ultimate goal is.

    • Application

Hydroseeding is an obvious choice to apply seed, mulch, fertilizers, and soil stabilizers in a one step process. This is especially helpful on steep slopes or inaccessible area's. We are able to shoot mixtures in excess of 100 feet.

    • Moisture

To sustain any plant life you must have water. Hydroseeding increases the chance of seed survival dramatically over any other methods.

Do you want a high quality lawn without all the work and cost of laying sod? Hydroseeding is the answer. We eliminate the back breaking job of installing sod by hydroseeding your lawn at a fraction of the cost. By having your lawn hydroseeded, you save more than 50% of the cost of sod.

    • Advantages of Hydroseeding Over Sod

Sod requires a lot of care and generally costs 3 to 5 times more than hydroseeding. Hydroseeding will produce turf as nice looking as sod within a very short time at a significant cost savings.

With hydroseeding the new seedlings are grown on your soil. Sod can have a problem with the type of soil it was grown on, not having sufficient compatibility with the soil it is planted on. This is called "not taking". If you have ever seen sod that looks like it could be rolled right back up even years after it was planted. That is sod that did not take.

  • What is hydroseeding ?

Hydroseeding is a fast, cost effective way to have a new lawn that will turn your neighbors green with envy. You will be surprised how inexpensive it is to have a truly outstanding lawn. Hydroseeding is a mixture of water, mulch, seed, fertilizer and tackifing agents. It is all mixed in a large hydroseeding unit and sprayed onto the ground.

Hydroseeding is technically proven and one of the most widely used methods of planting commercial grass projects like subdivisions, parks, schools, golf courses, landfills, dam sites and along the sides of highways. Hydroseeding is not new, it has been used around the world for better than 50 years. It is also a great way of planting wild flowers, crown vetch, for soil stabilization projects and erosion control.

Hydroseeding creates an ideal micro-environment for germinating seed. After the short period of time it takes to establish, the hydroseeded area is deeper rooted and healthier than a standard sodded area.

Hydroseeding is very cost effective compared to other methods of establishing grass. As we like to say hydroseeding is a faction of the price of sod.

    Water

Water in the mix acts as a carrier, and the contact of the seed and the water will jump start the growth process. When extra fast germination is desired, it is also possible to pre-germinate seed for even faster growth.

    Seed

Seed used in a hydro seeder doesn't need to be anything special. Nearly any seed can be used and at the same application rate as other seeding methods. These can include grass or lawn seeds, wildflowers and seeds for erosion control such as crown vetch.

    Fertilizer

Fertilizer is usually used in the mix. A high phosphorus "starter" fertilizer that will stimulate root growth is the most commonly used.

    Mulch

Hydro seeding mulch is what gives it the green color. It does more than just make it pretty, it helps protect the seed, and to seal in moisture. It may be made from a paper or wood product or a mix. If any accidentally gets on your walkways, driveways or house, it will not stain and can be washed off, or will just disappear on it's own.

    Other additives

Other products that may be added to a hydroseeding mix are products called tackifiers that help hold the materials on a hillside in rainy conditions. They also help seal moisture in to the soil. A lime based product is added if the pH needs correcting.

However your new lawn is installed care is very important, particularly for the first month.

Successful seed germination depends on a few days of special care. To assure proper germination water regularly. We suggest two times a day in warm weather. Keeping the yard moist will maximize seed germination.

You may walk on the hydro seeded surface when watering. Try to walk only on areas that are dry, and try to not disturb the mulch mat.

By watering regularly and keeping your new seedlings from drying out you insure the beginnings of a lawn that will make your neighbors green with envy.

  • Fertilizing

About one month after seeding, fertilize your new lawn using a high nitrogen (the first of the 3 numbers on the bag) fertilizer. When we first installed your lawn we used a high phosphorus or "starter fertilizer". The phosphorus will stimulate root growth, and in the early stages it is important to get good root growth before you stimulate a vigorous top growth with nitrogen.

    Your lawn looks - FANTASTIC!

Our special blend of premium seeds is applied with additives that promote rapid germination and deep roots. You will see growth in 5-7 days after we hydroseed and in 2-3 weeks you will have a lush full lawn.

Hydroseeding allows the custom tayloring of the proper seed for your job. It is not uncommon to use two or even three seeds custom spraying the right seed for different areas on the lawn or job.

Broadcasting seed on the ground is a great way to feed the birds and after watering the remaining seeds all wash away into small pockets producing poor results. By having your lawn hydro seeded, you are insuring nearly 100% seed growth. Each seed is suspended and protected in a mulch mat. You won't have the problem of watching your seeds wash away in streams. Seeds are held securely in place by the mulch fibres, which creates a mini-greenhouse effect, retaining water, and promoting germination. It produces a high quality lawn without a high price tag.
